This project was a Photography Exhibition born to accompany the screening of the film “Occupations/ The Encampments” hosted by Decolonial Film Festival at Cine Duchere in Lyon, France.
The exhibition tells the story of the encampment at MIT, lived through the memories of the students involved and the photographs they took during this time.

This project emerges as a collaboration between Adam Gagner, creator of “Est-ce que tu réalises?”, a collective that organizes a festival of political and social films, inviting people to create audiovisual works around archives, memories, struggles, and me.

My role was of Photo Exhibition Curator, and based on oral storytelling traditions, I selected the images and their framing, print sizes, the layout design, its pace and flow, to guide the visitor through a clear story and defined narrative that did not require explanation from us.

The installation suggests a chronological “linear” order telling the story of the encampment, and suggests the participant experience it in a specific order. The exhibition was available in Spanish, English, and French.

I shared the activities of finding a theme, text elaborations, translations, installation, and lighting with Adam. He was in charge of public speaking, the connection between the collective and individuals involved, and moderated the debate after the screening.
